Are waxed canvas bags waterproof?

Waxed canvas is water resistant rather than waterproof. Showers, drizzle and a wet seat on the bus will bead and roll off; standing water and hours of heavy rain will eventually push through. A yearly re-wax keeps the shell doing its job, and the routine is in our waxed canvas care guide.

Wipe with a dry cloth, condition two or three times a year, and let it patina: full-grain leather is meant to darken and soften with use. The full routine is in our full-grain leather care guide.
