Our Story

Wether & Hide started with a complaint — and a rainy commute.

Every morning in London, [Your Name] watched people ruin good bags in bad weather: leather that soaked through, canvas that sagged, zips that died after one downpour. The good news? The problem wasn't the owners. It was the design.

So in 2026, we set out to build the bag the British commute deserves — a hybrid: waxed canvas for the rain, full-grain leather for the character, built to survive the Tube at 8am and the weekend away by 5pm.

Why Canvas & Leather?

Full leather looks beautiful and leaks confidence. But it's heavy, precious, and hates drizzle. Waxed canvas shrugs off rain like an umbrella, wears in beautifully, and halves the weight.

We put the two together where they earn their keep: canvas where the weather hits, leather where the eye lands. The result is a bag that's 40–60% lighter than all-leather, brave enough for the morning commute, and handsome enough for a weekend in the Cotswolds. Start with the holdall collection.

We test every design the way you'll use it: strapped to a bicycle in the rain, shoved under an easyJet seat, carried through a night at the pub. If it can't handle a British Tuesday, it doesn't ship. See the range built for the commute.

Our Craft

Our bags are made in partnership with a family-run workshop with three generations of bag-making experience, using full-grain leather and 18oz waxed canvas. Every production run is inspected and photographed by us before it ships — we put our own samples through weeks of real commutes, and we publish the results. That standard runs through everything we make, from the messenger to everyday crossbody carry.
